
Alex Núñez
Alex Nuñez (b. 1984 in Miami, Florida) lives and works in Miami, Florida. Nuñez received her MFA from Hunter College, City University of New York (2012). Her mixed-media immersive practice models tropical dystopian landscapes with acrylic, pastel, glitter, crystals, and gold leaf. These textural works explore resilience and adaptation amidst environmental collapse.
Selected solo exhibitions include “C12 Emerging Artist” (2013) at Marianne Boesky, New York, NY; “No soy de aquí, ni soy de allá” (2023) at Club Gallery (currently Baker/ Hall), Miami, Florida; and “There’s A Gator In The Pool” (2025) at Faena Art Project Room, Miami Beach, FL. Group exhibitions include “La Bienal: Here is Where We Jump” (2013) at El Museo del Barrio, New York; “Cut ’N Mix” (2015) at El Museo del Barrio; and “Material Nature” (2019) at Deering Estate, Miami, Florida.
Nuñez has been a resident artist at Deering Estate in Miami, Florida (2019) and Project Art, Miami, Florida (2017).
Nuñez is a recipient of the C12 Fellowship (2013) and Locust Projects and The Warhol Foundation’s Wavemaker Grant (2020). Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Observer, Artforum, and Hyperallergic, and was recently acquired by Miami Dade Art in Public Places (2026) for the Doral Branch Library.
